A Night with Sergio Bernal

datespress review

A Night with Sergio Bernal will be filled with spices of the Spanish night, rhythms of bolero and flamenco, and flaming sounds of jota and sevillanas.

For many centuries Spain has been attracting musicians, who were tired of “square” arrangement of European melodies; however only great musicians saw the essence behind the external exotics.

Even fifty years ago it was hard to imagine the combination of classical choreography, Spanish classical and flamenco traditions.

However, the arts follow the challenges of the time: and a dancer with impeccable, virtuoso ballet technique preserves a really Spanish spirit, which Federico Garcia Lorca described with a hard-to-translate notion “duende”.
